It's time! The much anticipated reopening of Boyne Outfitters.

We are happy to report that starting Friday, May 29th, Boyne Outfitters is back in business! Summer hours will be Monday through Saturday 10AM to 6PM and Sunday 11AM to 4PM.

Boyne Resorts has written an extensive Covid-19 Preparedness Plan with mandatory health reporting for team members and sanitizing protocols for the store. However, we are only as effective as we are as a whole, therefore we are asking for your cooperation.

  • We are limiting to 3 customers per time in the shop
  • All patrons must wear a face mask or face covering while in the shop
  • Please utilize hand santizer upon entering

We thank you for helping us to maintain a high level of cleanliness within our store to keep all of us safe during these unsure times.

Further, we are also offering curbside pickup. Give us a call and we can put your order together for you to grab on your way to the river.

As for the river... things are finally settling into prime spring/summer hatch season. Some cold weather and large rain events have been trying on our spirits, but the warm weather as of late has hatches caught right back up and in full effect. Things are finally starting to feel like they should. Hendricksons are still hanging on in some places. Caddis are currently one of the main events, and sulphurs and mahoganies are on-deck. We are starting to see a few stones around - little yellows (sallies) and olives - but larger stones aren't too far away. Black quills and pseudo-gray drakes have anglers frustrated per usual (hint: throw an Adams or Borchers).

The classic evening rise is finally here and anglers should capitlize on this event for the next couple weeks. In my opinion, this is one of the best times to be an angler in Michigan... or at least one of the most successful and nostalgic times to be on the river. This is the time of throwing on half-damp waders, pulling a semi-warm beer from a sling pack, and heading to your favorite beat to watch mayflies dance and trout rise ignorantly to their newly discovered food source. That is my version of heaven.

We are looking forward to seeing you in the shop and on the river over the next week! Please let us know if there is any way we can help in your fishing endeavors.

Tight lines~
