Paul Moody

Principal Guide

Fly Fishing Instructor

Paul is a great example of "living the 'Boyne Lifestyle.'"  His passion for the outdoors has taken him from Costa Rica to Alaska, the mountains of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, plus many places in between! He grew up on the "big water" of Port Huron and then moved across state to finish college in Kalamazoo.  His professional career took him to Metro Detroit where he lived for 32 years in Birmingham/ Bloomfield.  In November of 2014, his wife suggested they relocate their family to their Boyne Mountain home and the rest is history.

Introduced to fly fishing in 1994 while on a steelhead trip to a "blown out" Pere Marquette river, he instantly fell in love with the beauty of one of Michigan's most well-known rivers.  Being brand new to fly fishing, he didn't know the fishing day was a total bust, but he was permanently hooked on the experience and the intimate feeling of being on the river.

A northern Michigan resident, Paul enjoys many of the areas' pleasures.  Spring & summer brings golf, backpacking, paddle boards and mountain bikes. Fall & winter brings bows, guns, fat tires and skis - But fishing is always in season!  Trout, salmon, steelhead, carp, brookies, bass and pike - there is always something to chase. Even in the shoulder seasons when others are looking out their windows wishing they had an excuse to get outside... fishing is always the excuse.

Paul is a 37+ year veteran in the financial services industry and is married with 4 children.  His youngest two boys graduated from Boyne City High School where he still coaches the golf team.
